Cultural diversity brought to you by: 105.1 FM
In 1955 John Daperis broadcasted his first Greek language program over the airwaves of CHLP Montreal¹s French language radio station. His journey as producer and host of a multicultural radio show included broadcasts from the original CHRS-St-Jean D¹Iberville and CJSO-Sorel.
By 1966 Montreal¹s thriving Hellenic community was ready for more Greek programming and welcomed its first Greek language radio station when John and his wife Hélène Daperis launched CHCR (Canadian Hellenic Cable Radio).
This service offered specialized Greek programming on a closed-circuit cable network, in other words today¹s pay radio.
In February 2003 CHCR applied to the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission CRTC to obtain a commercial FM licence to serve the greater Montreal market. The application was heard along with other major broadcasters also seeking FM licences during CRTC hearings held in Montreal. A licence for 105.1 FM was eventually granted to CHCR.
On March 16, 2004, 105.1 FM began testing its signal from its transmitter on Mount Royal and officially launched on April 17, 2004.
CKDG-FM¹s strength lies in its direct access to the diversified cultural communities in the greater Montreal region. The station thrives on its unique local programming which reflects Montreal¹s worldly flair attracting listeners of every background.

Over the last five years, 105.1 evolved into Mike FM, the English bloke who married into a multicultural family. The Mike format has been carried over into our third language programming with live hosts, news, traffic and classic hits from the countries and languages we feature.
In 2007 a second license was granted to Groupe CHCR for 106.3 FM in Montreal. CKIN FM will be launhed in the summer of 2010.
